Everyone has a story. Everything is a story. Your life is a story.

This is my story

For more than 25 years, my life and career have been woven into the fabric of storytelling.

I began my media journey as an intern at Kenya Television Network (KTN), where I learned early that storytelling is not simply about content, but about responsibility—to audiences, to truth, and to the communities around us. Those formative years instilled in me curiosity, resilience, and a deep respect for the power of narrative. Over the years, I built my career across leading media houses in East Africa, refining my craft while hosting and producing television shows across a wide range of genres—from news and current affairs to lifestyle, reality shows, and human-interest programs. Each format sharpened my belief that the most powerful stories are grounded in people’s lived experiences.

In 2013, I experienced a full-circle moment when I returned to KTN as Head of TV, leading three television channels at scale.

That role was both a privilege and a profound responsibility. It meant shaping programming that informed and inspired millions of viewers, making strategic decisions with wide-reaching impact, and leading large teams of creatives and presenters.

Alongside leadership, I remained deeply connected to storytelling itself—hosting TV shows, nurturing on-air talent, and keeping the audience at the heart of every decision. More importantly, it meant creating opportunity: mentoring hundreds of professionals, opening doors for thousands of careers, and setting standards of excellence that outlived individual shows or seasons.

My work has since taken me beyond Kenya to global stages across Africa, the Middle East, and Europe.

I have moderated high-level panels, conducted thought-provoking interviews, and facilitated cross-cultural dialogue among leaders from industry, policy, and civil society. These experiences reinforced a belief that has guided my work throughout my career: when stories are told with honesty and depth, they have the power to connect people, shift perspectives, and shape outcomes.

After 25 years in mainstream media, my focus has evolved from broadcasting stories to curating and convening conversations—bringing people together to reflect, connect, and make sense of the world through shared experience.

Whether on camera, behind it, or at the table with decision-makers, I am committed to creating spaces where complex ideas can be explored thoughtfully and where lived experience is valued alongside expertise.

My work is driven by a simple conviction: stories are how we understand one another. When we listen deeply and share honestly, we create connection, meaning, and impact that lasts—for legacy, for posterity, and for the generations that come next

Catherine Mwangi is one of the very few bold managers we have in East Africa with solid leadership skills. They say a mediocre leader tells, a good leader explains, a superior leader demonstrates, while a great leader inspires. Catherine is a great leader & my mentor.

Catherine Mwangi is a prolific team leader and manager. I’ve worked with Catherine for over six years. During our time together in a boss-employee relationship, Catherine exuded enviable mentorship and talent grooming skills. At the very beginning of our relationship, she came though as the most dependable person in the production and programming department. She always had quick and handy solutions for short term and long term problems.

I worked as a TV Presenter on NTV Uganda between 2010 and 2012. During my second year at NTV, Ms. Catherine Mwangi joined the station as Head of Production and I reported directly to her. It is rare for one to come across a supervisor like Cathy, I have yet to work under the wing of a person who is more a mentor than a boss. Working with Cathy was a pure pleasure – she cultivates relationships with staff and has great work ethic and integrity, not to mention her extensive knowledge of the media landscape in East Africa

Catherine has earned a unrivalled reputation at KTN, the major Kenyan National TV broadcaster. She is not just one of the most talented and experienced broadcast tv professionals in Kenya but anywhere. She is; sharp, insightful, engaging, confident and articulate in front of camera and very successful as a senior creative television manager. She is also an extremely warm-hearted woman who truly cares about people and has a gift for making everyone feel relaxed and comfortable on camera. And when a project needs pushing through, she inspires and earns support from everyone she works with and leads. I have known Catherine for several years and recommend her unreservedly.

Catherine and I worked together on various shows: a faith-based live production and a reality show regarding weight loss. She is a consummate and dedicated professional who strives for excellence at every turn. Catherine is strategic in her planning and execution. She takes time to think through every production set looking at it from both the eye of the producer and viewer. While working with Catherine I noticed one of her core values was portrayed in her desire to develop her staff to their full potential. This made those working with her not only respect her for being their manager but they saw a leader who was willing to take risks on them listening to their ideas and empowering them to make them a reality.
